SUBSCRIBE VIA RSSOn the A-F grading scale I came in at about an X in my attempt to harvest video clips for my Blogstar parody.
Technically, I scored a 10.5%, a number that would get nearly anyone tossed out of whatever educational program they happened to be in. Of the 38 video clip pledges, only 4 arrived.
The 4 that arrived were great (THANK YOU!) but I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t have 3:48 of darkness and 32 seconds of action if I’m going to be the next great American songwriter and video director. I think I’ll just have to leave music videos to the experts.
So, this is just a quick announcement that I’m calling off the video. Just in case some of you had rented out lavish settings and video equipment. I’m bummed as I thought it’d be really cool but I think I underestimated how difficult it would be, especially in the throes of summer. It’s chaotic enough so I’m sure I just added to a never-ending “To Do” list anyhow.
Instead, I’ll just be putting up a little graphical version in the coming weeks as I at least want to put the song out there. To those who have the recording, please continue to keep it under wraps. There’s still about six readers who haven’t heard it yet.

Awwe, I’m sorry Greg. I needed techy help from the kid, and she took off on me for 2 weeks. =( I scolded her properly (before you even posted this..lol.) to let her know how disappointed I was that she wasn’t able to help make us famous. >.<
I’m sorry that my husband’s failure to buy me a sweet arse video recorder ruined this for you… I will give him the stink eye for this later. And when he’s all “What I do now?” I’ll be like “YOU. KNOW.”

I am also among the folks who really wanted to be a part of it but unfortunately life (medically fragile child who decided it would be the perfect time to have a prolonged seizure and get pneumonia which resulted in an unexpected stay at Children’s Hospital) and my lack of technical skills got in the way. I still want to be a blogstar however. Maybe next year?
I have a pretty decent blog following, but I’ll never forget the time I came up with the “brilliant” idea to do a link-up cookie exchange the week before Christmas and I got maybe four link ups (and one was a blog a friend created JUST TO DO the link up because she felt sorry for me) um ouch. I learned quickly that as a non-recipe blog I couldn’t expect to become one for one post. I think you’re still a blogstar…it’s just that you aren’t a music/performing blog so making music videos just isn’t your blog audience’s thing…
You are still a blog star to me. We were more than happy to be among the 4 who did supply video and although I am not sure that our videos were “Great” (bad lighting, probably worse lip synching), they were filled with heart.
I know the other 34 people had good intentions, but when 99% of us are holding on by our fingernails to our jobs, or worse, our unemployment checks; our families, our fragile health or our very sanity….a publisher worthy video can be close to impossible to pull off.
Like I said Greg, I would love to see/hear you revisit this someday as the intent was/is epic.

I completely forgot about this! I’m so sorry, Greg. We’ve had some home stuff come up that I’ve been dealing with and the video just got lost in the mix.
But I have heard the song and it’s FABULOUS. Just. sayin’.

It would give people more time to compose a video for you and it wouldn’t interfere with us getting our kids off to school. Mine starts on Wednesday.
Plus I could put something in there about my FIL moving to the Philippines for some chick her met on the internet. NO JOKE. He leaves September 4th. :0

Did I count as 1 or 2 of the four? Since I had son-of-a-blogger join me. He is disappointed that his healie moment will not be live. I completely rocked the wig, but it is best probably that it stays in the can. We probably will never get the chance again to use the circus animals and the little people again, though. All in all, the airfare and hookers aside, we didn’t mind spending the money for a memorable family weekend….

Don’t feel bad. I have a young relative who’s an enthusiastic 4th-grade teacher and, just before school started back up, she put out an open invitation to all her friends and family for anyone who wanted to read an age-appropriate story on video (she specializes in reading, language, etc.), thinking her students might enjoy the variety. Regrettably, a few days later, she had to call it off because not enough people responded, not by a long shot. It was a great idea, though. as was yours.
If you think that’s bad, my husband misplaced our camera after my family reunion and I can’t send a pic of me and paper-you riding on my saxophone!
