I wrote these lyrics to the tune of “Seven Things” after promising the daughter of some friends of ours back in Texas that I’d write a parody to a Miley Cyrus song. I had originally planned to sing it myself but it didn’t take me long to realize that this would have been a complete disaster.
I decided to hire a fantastic vocalist out of Canada (Rachel Ferguson) and she absolutely nailed it. It was soooo cool to hear her bring my lyrics to life. She did an amazing job and she’ll be back on future parodies.
I tweeted, begged, and asked my bloggy buddies if they’d like to participate in the music video and what you’re about to see is the collaborative work of all those bloggers.
I want to thank everyone who sent video clips (you are all fawned over underneath the video) and I hope you’ll be up for an encore.
With that, I bring you “Say the Things”, which is my commentary on the importance of commentary. I figure, if I’m going to obsess over comments, why not at least have some fun with it, right?

That video embodies everything I feel when I see "0 Comments" after a long post! I have a blog. A tiny blog, about the things I love, you see. And I have only gotten 2 comments. EVER. One of them was The Bloggess, because she's so awesome it hurts, and one of them was another crafty blogger.
My family members sometimes say to me on the phone, "Oh I read your blog last night, it was so funny!" And for the hundredth time I say, "You should comment!" They reply, "No, that's too much work. I can just call you." Facepalm.
You know you suck when your own relatives won't even take the time to comment on your blog.
But this blog? Yeah baby!

Nicely done. I never thought about how Blog writers might actually LIKE to get comments. Now I understand. Not getting comments on a blog you spent a lot of effort on and you think is great must be kind of like peeing in your pants when you are wearing black trousers. You get a warm feeling, but nobody else notices. Maybe. Or maybe not. I'll comment more often.
By the way, I've never peed in my pants when wearing dark trousers, so that whole part was just conjecture.

This was fantastic. I’ve always been shy about my own writing, and very shy about commenting…but when I hesitate to comment, I’m reminded of why I’ve given up blogging every time I’ve attempted it — because without comments, it felt like no one was reading it.
