We’re going to have an insane amount of fun together with the Save the Sleeve mission!
For I am…
The Boogie Man.
The absolutely fantastical uber-cool moms over at Boogie Wipes have not only embraced my blog but they’ve also embraced my dorkiness.
What started as a shameless plea for them to be this site’s very first advertiser a few months ago has blossomed into a really cool arrangement. I use the word ‘arrangement’ because I’m not really sure what else to call it.
It’s not a partnership, although we will be partnering up throughout the year. It’s not a sponsorship, although they will be sponsoring me at various events throughout the year. And it’s not an adoption, although I’ll be doing my best to get adopted throughout the year.
Yes, I’m totally willing to replace my parents.
Thanks to these lovely ladies, I’ll be heading to IZEAFest in Orlando in just a few weeks and BlogHer ‘10 in New York City next August. We’ll also be sprinkling in a few national appearances along with some really cool online events and general goofiness.
For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, I had put together a musical plea in my quest to find a sponsor for BlogHer ‘10. If you’re a glutton for audible punishment, listen to New York, New York so that the next paragraph makes sense.
Boogie Wipes not only answered my musical call for a sponsor to BlogHer ‘10, but they went above and beyond by giving me creative license to just be myself and have some fun. I’ve immersed myself in their brand and they have given me the okay (with accompanied laughter) to do a whole bunch of kooky things.
Seriously…what other company would be all for it when I approach asking them to expense a ’70s retro Disco suit along with these babies? Not many!
Will I be totally stylin' or what?
They are all for the songs and parodies that I want to do.
They are all for my idea to get decked out in Disco gear so that I can truly become “The Boogie Man”.
And they are all for giving me the creative freedom I need to just have fun with the whole thing.
They didn’t ask for it, or expect it, I simply want to over-deliver. After all, they put their faith in me even though I lack the kind traffic and statistics that conventional advertisers drool over. This means a lot to me and Boogie Wipes is a company and a product that I can have a lot of fun with.
Not to mention the fact that Boogie Wipes is controversy-free!
Unless there’s a group out there feverishly protesting saline, I think it’s safe to say that I’ll avoid any hassle.
I do recognize that I’m assuming quite a bit of a risk dressing the way I want to dress because once I slap on a pair of 4″ platform shoes, I’ll become a 7-foot tall disco freak of nature. But it’ll be fun and that’s really all that matters to me.
So stick around! Go ahead and tell your children that the Boogie Man is real. I’ll be creating songs, posts, and contests for them as well. Like I said, we’re going to have a lot of fun together.
Thank you Boogie Wipes! Thank you for the opportunity. More importantly, thank you for allowing me to be me.
Now we’ll see if we can make some people laugh.

Lisa´s last blog ..So here’s the tentative plan…
@Lisa – BlogHer ‘09 actually had a number of male attendees as well. They even had their own little corner in one of the ball rooms. And yes, I am indeed so obviously a him. Contrary to what Flirty Girl may have led people to believe.

I love the Boogie Moms, Boogie Wipes and all that they are doing! I just emailed Mindee and was singing this tune in my head the other day “Boogie Nights” and suggested a jingle to her — lo and behold here you are!! I don’t know if you’re able to use their music but if you can (or even want to) if you haven’t already, here are some words I came up with. I’m sure being THE BOOGIE MAN you can do much better, but here’s what I have.
Starting out . . (sung to the tune of BOOGIE NIGHTS)
“Boogie Wipes, come on moms, we have got some snotty!”
“Boogie Wipes, get ‘em out! They’re not for the potty!”
“Kids, moms and nannies love ‘em
“Cause Boogie Moms are always the best in town!”
etc
etc
etc
I’d love to come up with some more fun words if you’re interested!!!
*Please* tell me that you are going to be “The Boogie Man” for Halloween. Please.
That’s really awesome, too, by the way. How great for you and the Boogie Moms!
