Some of you may remember that I’m trying to foster our 8-year old’s interest in blogging by posting an item from his journal each week.
Last week’s installment is here and for his second installment, he touches on New York.
My translation is below for those unable to read chicken scratch.

New York is full of life. New York is full of memories. New York sings their own anthem. The song is called New York, New York. If you want to hear it go to www.TellingDad.com, then type in New York, New York or just do the iTunes but install it first, then just type in New York, New York.
If you want to learn about new York type in the Google bar: New York or New York City.
The thing that impresses me most about this is that I had no idea he was so well acquainted with my blog. It was simply a journal entry that I hadn’t read or heard about until I sifted through the notebook to find this week’s post.
The “anthem” he speaks of is my rendition of New York, New York that I wrote when seeking a sponsor for BlogHer ’10. And no, it is not on iTunes, lol. At least, not my version!
His journal entry also accompanied a drawing so I figured I’d share that as well. I’m wondering if the Statue of Liberty’s mood is metaphorical.

He loves to read comments so if you post them below I will be sure to read them to him over the phone. He is currently in New York for a month as my wife tends to her mother so it’ll be a welcomed phone call.

Great post on NY. For 8 years old he writes very well. Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I like the drawing part the best. You are so right, NYC is so full of life and memories as well. I used to live there and by golly the one thing I never went to see was the Statue of Liberty. I think you made a lot of New Yorkers happy today, they are very proud of their city.

While trying to read this post on my iPhone, I thought your son wrote “New York is full of morons.” and I thought, that’s, uh, a brave observation for an eight year old. But then I blew up my screen and the word was “memories”. Well, I suppose that was the safer observation!

I'm pretty sure you have a budding journalist on your hands.
(thanking my lucky stars my mom doesn't have a blog to post my journal entries from when I was that young.)
