Michael, our 8-year old, has expressed an interest in blogging so I made him a deal. If he keeps up with his journal I’ll select a particular weekly entry and share it on Telling Dad every Sunday as a feature.
It works out great for me because he’s a total trip and it’ll be a great way to fill in the gaps between feature posts. For his first installment, he explains his take on televisions, computers, and calculators. My translation is below for those unable to read chicken scratch.

Translation with Spelling Corrections.
TV’s: TV’s are electronic devices. They are entertainment for people. TV’s can do comedies, actions, cartoons even movies.
Computers: Computers are electronic devices. They find information that you want to look up. People can use it to have fun while others work.
Calculators: Calculators are electronic devices too! They don’t do much. They are absolutely boring. They only tell you the answers to math questions.
Now that you’re all schooled, we’ll see you tomorrow!

LOL but if you have a graphing calculator, you can play Tetris and other games. At least we could back in the “good ol’ days” when I was in high school LOL.I’m sure the games you can play on them are probably more advanced now.

Sometimes those who use it for work get agitated with those who use it for fun. The really nice thing is that some people can make it do both!
Love this idea of letting your son “post” – very cool.

I LOVE my nephew. Give him a big squeeze and tell him how proud of him I am for his blog. He’s so cute! You need to play the clip of hinm dancing at Erin’s wedding when he was 3 years old and then bowing when he was finished. lol

LOL I love the calculator bit…you need to show him a scientific one, those were actually kind of fun in high school. He writes a LOT like my 8 yr old son.

Haha, indeed, calculators have come a long way. My husband’s cousin was totally playing MARIO on his graphing calculator. Back in my day (and Amanda’s too, your first comment), Tetris was all we had. Le sigh.

LMAO at calculators. I agree. Math sucks. But rich people use math-so learn it.

Hahaha! So cute, and yet SO TRUE. I can actually picture my husband saying something like this at the same age. Although… as an adult, his writing isn’t much better.
