Ode to BlogHer ’09

by Telling Dad on July 28, 2009

I’ve heard quite a bit about the drama that unfolded at BlogHer 2009. Rather than simply rehash the same stories in the written word I decided to take about 20 hours out of my life to put it to song.

Important Disclaimer:

1. No, I don’t think I can sing.

2. No, I was not there. These are the stories I’ve read and been told.

3. Yes, it is totally made in jest.

I hope you enjoy! And if not…you REALLY need to lighten up! :)

Please share with others if you enjoy it. Heck, even if you hate it!

I would love to hear comments and read about re-tweets. :)

Update (11:27pm CST): I want to thank everyone for their kind words. I doubt it will encourage me to sing again (you can all thank me later) but I was asked to create a button inspired from the song. So, have at it! :)

Angie [A Whole Lot of Nothing] July 28, 2009 at 10:50 pm

“Blog for Peace. Not Swag.” That should be BlogHer’s new slogan.

This vid needs to be shown at BlogHer’10 with you singing along. Or not. Maybe they’ll get Billy Joel.

My goodness! Thank you to everyone! I will most definitely be making buttons tomorrow so check back. I’m flattered by the comments and greatly appreciate you taking the time to leave them.

LMAO it is awesome! Tweeted of course ;)

Stacey @ Tree, Root, and Twig July 28, 2009 at 11:19 pm

SO FANTASTIC! I RT’d this post! You are SUCH a refreshing contribution to all things bloggy. Seriously. I’ve never felt so proud to be a blogger (though I am but a speck of dust compared to your meteor-sized talent!).

Allison aka Misadventurous Mommy July 28, 2009 at 11:25 pm

You are an absolute freaking genius! Seriously this is the funniest thing I have heard all day, maybe even all week, and if I hadn’t heard my step-daughter refer to the MJ song “Man in the Mirror” as “Man in the Liver” (true story) last week then I would venture to say this is the funniest thing I’ve heard all month!

Great job!

Shannon July 28, 2009 at 11:27 pm

That was genius, Greg! My cheeks hurts so badly!

Rhea@mommy23monkeys July 28, 2009 at 11:28 pm

THAT was awesome! I wasn’t even there and think this is hysterical. Off to tweet. You wanted to go viral didn’t you? LOL

Kim @ Beautiful Wreck July 28, 2009 at 11:32 pm

I wasn’t at BlogHer09, but I have read about it and let me say, that this by far is the best post about it so far! I was LMAO. And if I go next year, I will be sure to reference this video for what I need to pack or at least pick up when I get to NYC.

Jill W July 28, 2009 at 11:32 pm

Oh my God, you really summed EVERYTHING up so well, I am beyond impressed…and trying not to wake my daughter with my laughter. I am linking to this shortly – thanks for the laughs!

Amy July 28, 2009 at 11:36 pm

Now I’m sad because somehow I didn’t manage to meet the funniest person there! DAMNIT!

I’m not worthy. I’m not worthy! You rock. And your singing wasn’t SO bad.

Lavender Luz July 29, 2009 at 12:08 am

Simply awesome.

Hope to meet you in 2010. I missed this year but I’ll be back next, with body armor and a fire extinguisher.

Rock and Roll Mama July 29, 2009 at 12:13 am

Wow, even those who were there couldn’t have captured the drama so well. You did an incredible job, and it’s hilarious! But I gotta get in a plug.:)
I was the mic wrangler for the International Scholarship Winners Panel. And I gotta be honest, if I weren’t I may not have been among the 20 or so in the room. I may have been off trying to score a vibrator or sneak through the backdoor of a party to snag a swag bag.
But I’m so glad I was where I was.
The four women, from Bolivia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and India, had a common theme-they started their blogs to help solve a problem they saw in their country. And it wasn’t as simple as being marginalized or dissatisfied. They face risks of persecution for continuing their blogs, and lord knows no one’s giving them free Tide. But they do it, and they speak with gratitude and humility of the service they provide. It moved more than one person in the room to tears. It could not have been more polar opposite from some other scenes playing out. And it will be the moment I always carry with me from Blogher 09. I just wish more could have seen it- next year, those winners should be honored as part of the Community Keynote. They deserved better. Thanks for letting me share, and I truly love your video.

Cindi @ Moomette's Magnificents July 29, 2009 at 12:31 am

OMG, you need to get syndicated! This is hysterical- I wasn’t there but I’m hoping to get to NYC next year since it’s right down the road from me!

Hope to see you there! You’ll figure out a way to get in, Mr. Mom!

hairstyles for girls July 29, 2009 at 12:36 am

My poor bladder!! Loved every second of it. When is the record coming out?

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 12:53 am

Wow wow wow! I wish I could “@” everyone on here but it’d be a mile long. Thank you for the kudos and I’m elated to have brought some laughter to the whole situation.

Don’t expect this kind of hilarity out of every post. I can’t handle that kind of pressure. But I’m sure you’ll spot a few gems if you visit me again. I have lots in store, that’s for sure.

Thank you all so much! Feel blessed.

Lisa @ Unfiltered Insanity July 29, 2009 at 12:53 am

Now is that mace as in the spray? Or mace as in medieval weapon with spikes? From what I understand, both may be necessary. One to fend off an attack by blinding, and the other to sweep away anyone going for my swag!

I didn’t go either. Not going next year (got somewhere important to be). May not go. Ever.

Jenn July 29, 2009 at 1:02 am

Hilarious! I couldn’t make it this year and was so bummed. Even in jest, this puts it all in perspective. You rock! See you at BlogHer’10!

Toni July 29, 2009 at 1:18 am

This was absolutely hysterical, it gave me a much needed laugh after getting off work. I look forward to future music videos :)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 1:23 am

@Toni – lol, I wouldn’t be holding your breath for those! Maybe one every few months if the mood and inspiration strikes. I’m the last person people want abusing a microphone.

Maura July 29, 2009 at 1:47 am

I don’t see how you weren’t there, because you NAILED it! Too, too perfect. Thank you for that; now I have a start to my own post. ;-)

Shan @Last Shreds Of Sanity July 29, 2009 at 3:06 am

How funny that some of those that this song was a slam about have yet to figure it out, huh? :P

Jessica Smith July 29, 2009 at 7:17 am

This was so fun and so fitting as I’m sure most of us listened to this song and sang all the words in junior high.

Greg, I just went over to the PR side (but still blogging at jessicaknows.com) and would love to connect! Hit me up!

Stephanie July 29, 2009 at 7:26 am

Jenn Fowler @ Frugal Upstate July 29, 2009 at 8:23 am

That was so funny! But honestly, I think I was at a different conference than everyone else-although I heard rumors of that kind of behavior with a single small exception I really didn’t see it. Can’t decided if I”m just blessed, or oblivious. Either way it made for a fairly “drama-less” good time for me :)

Christine Cugno July 29, 2009 at 8:25 am

You are absolutely one-of-a-kind. I have to say the mental image of you singing that is almost as funny as the post. Thanks for the laugh!

Susan G July 29, 2009 at 8:29 am

Love it :) Great job !

Okay Greg You owe me a new laptop. Totally spit my drink everywhere. Beautiful song. Off to tweet.

Beth G July 29, 2009 at 8:37 am

Greg, I’ve read the same stories, and I didn’t go. I found myself thinking the same things you sang about(beautiful voice, by the way). I pictured women throwing each other down, stepping on the lil ladies and b*tch slapping to get their swag bags!! Thank God I didn’t go, even if it’s exaggerated.

Elizabeth July 29, 2009 at 8:39 am

Greg, you are going to have women fighting over your free hugs at BlogHer ’10.

Tara July 29, 2009 at 8:40 am

I finally got it to work! whew. This was brilliant, so talented you are Greg! Both my husband I got a giggle out of it. I love “Shapeshifting Drama Queens”. Too funny, now I can’t wait for next year!

Priceless. Hope you are ready for the free hugs. Bet those will be as popular as the swag.

I will be linking back – and talking about you on MomTV tonight.

Best. Recap. Evah. I am looking for you for free hugs next year! :)

Margaret July 29, 2009 at 10:01 am

That’s awesome! I no longer regret not going to BlogHer ’09. I was thinking of going to ’10 since it’s pretty convenient, but am now having second thoughts.

Binkytowne July 29, 2009 at 10:01 am

Wow. I would pay BIG MONEY to hear you kick off next year’s Keynote doing this live. Simply brilliant (and the singing is not bad, actually.)

Jennifer July 29, 2009 at 10:04 am

That was the most clever thing I have seen in a long time…you are so talented and I definitely think you should make more of these – just about everyday life! I’ll be at Blogher 10 and cannot wait to meet you! I will be showing this to my hubby – he will laugh hysterically.

Jane July 29, 2009 at 10:05 am

Just awesome. I wasn’t there, either, but it seems you summed up BlogHer ’09 perfectly based on the first-hand accounts I’ve heard. So glad I found your blog today (thanks to a tweet from @mom101) – absolutely hilarious.

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 10:05 am

@Kimberly – Wait a minute here. You said it was the most entertaining “2 minutes” of your life. The song was 4 minutes long. LOL! ;)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 10:06 am

@Anissa – Absolutely I’m cool! In lots of ways. And feel free to post it. Only 100% credit necessary. ;)

rachel-asouthernfairytale July 29, 2009 at 10:06 am

Hi. I have to intro myself to you because I may now stalk you.

This is brilliant. BRILLIANT.
I loved it. I was there, missed all the drama, had a blast but this.. this is sheer brilliance.

LMAO!

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 10:07 am

@Danielle – Thank you so much and I promise I wasn’t there. I do hope to hit BlogHer ’10 and I had no idea tickets need to be bought NOW. That’s crazy! And if my Free Hugs are as popular as swag then I’ll need police protection.

m a m a j o s s July 29, 2009 at 10:11 am

Genius. I think I saw all of these lyrics in some way or another via Twitter all. weekend. long. Nice job…made me spit out my coffee this morning.

j. caroline July 29, 2009 at 10:14 am

That was great! I am so getting a free hug from you at ’10. Does a kiss cost extra?

By the way, I’m starting a rumor that I was the naked person on the escalator. I’ve got some people buying it….(not literally, but I should get a sponsor, yes?)

Christine July 29, 2009 at 10:16 am

Funny stuff…thanks for making me smile.

Andrea @ MommySnacks.net July 29, 2009 at 10:17 am

Colleen - Mommy Always Wins July 29, 2009 at 10:17 am

First of all – you’re AWESOME and that was funny as hell.

BUT…rest assured that there were MANY of us there who didn’t give two sh*ts about swag or drama who had one HELL of a time! (And still came home with lots of free stuff.)

momtrolfreak July 29, 2009 at 10:28 am

AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME.

I was one of the ones out taking a walk with no drama (and happy about it). Can’t wait for next year, when I’ll again be one of the ones out taking a walk with no drama!

Jennifer July 29, 2009 at 10:31 am

My husband and I watched this and we were both laughing hysterically at your wonderful lyrics. I truly hope you choose to do more of these. I love your refreshing and original blog posts. Thank You!

Nancy from Fear and Parenting in Las Vegas July 29, 2009 at 10:32 am

You rock. My BlogHer experience was not nearly the drama I was braced for, but the naked chick on the escalator? I don’t think anyone saw that coming.

See you in NYC.

Nikki from The Guilty Parent July 29, 2009 at 10:33 am

LOVED IT! My 13 yo son was standing here watching with me and he’s like “REALLY?” and I’m all like, “Yes. Really.” And then he’s all like, “… OK. All you bloggers are all crazy.” Ah, yes. The wisdom of children. Great Video! I clapped and laughed and cried. You totally need a Best Video award.

Jen Drexler July 29, 2009 at 10:38 am

This is brilliant! LOVE and can’t wait to forward on. Already RTed.

TheAngelForever July 29, 2009 at 10:54 am

Love finding fabulous things via Twitter. Thank you so much for putting this out there to break the tension. As someone that did not go to BlogHer and is hoping to go to BlogHer ’10 w/blogging hubby it made me smile.

georgie July 29, 2009 at 10:56 am

so your the brain child of this hysterical vid!!! OMGosh you had me in stitches and I have already seen this on many blogs!

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 11:00 am

@Colleen – I know the nutcases were the minority but no one talks about the orderly and behaved attendees. Plus, there isn’t much comedy in people being civil. :)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 11:02 am

@EVERYBODY! – Thank you all so much! And I’m quite surprised people have taken it under their wings. But I love that it brought laughter! I wish I could thank everyone individually but the comment roll would be unbearable. My wife already fears a bloated ego. :)

see see so me July 29, 2009 at 11:11 am

it was great~~makes me want to go to bogher 09

Tishia Lee July 29, 2009 at 11:18 am

OMG that was HILARIOUS. Still giggling about it.

Sandy July 29, 2009 at 11:19 am

Greg, that is awesome!

Don Mills Diva July 29, 2009 at 11:24 am

That was funny as hell.

I think I love you.

This Mom Erin July 29, 2009 at 11:42 am

Damn Greg… I think I love you! YOU, my good sir, are a freaking genious! Thanks for being so awesome!

Connie @ Young and Relentless July 29, 2009 at 11:43 am

I feel completely recapped on BlogHer09 now. That was great!

Preston July 29, 2009 at 11:52 am

That is THE best Blogher post I have read to date. I was laughing my butt off and I wasn’t even there. I think this should be the “theme song” for Blogher 10, what do you think? So, do they let guys go to Blogher? Hmmm…

moosh in indy. July 29, 2009 at 11:57 am

I don’t LOL easily.
In fact I never admit to LOLing.
I just loled. twice.

Jen July 29, 2009 at 12:15 pm

You? Are a genius. That was perfect… and I wasn’t even THERE.

My favorite is the list of things for BlogHer ’10… I’d better get packing now!

Melissa July 29, 2009 at 12:19 pm

LOL, too funny!

Erin July 29, 2009 at 12:42 pm

You, sir, are a ROCK STAR. I didn’t go to BlogHer because I had another commitment that I chose over it. If I had any jealousy about missing it, even an inkling, it’s gone daddy gone. kthxbai

Diane J. July 29, 2009 at 12:45 pm

I didn’t attend, but I’ve been hearing snippets about swag issues. I love your take on it. I’m hoping to be able to attend some year, maybe I should take up some Judo lessons.

Pop and Ice July 29, 2009 at 12:53 pm

Great music video! And although this introvert mostly hid out away from the fray and attended sessions, it was still amusing to hear about the drama that probably happened right under my nose and I didn’t even notice.

Next year I’m taking my husband and daughter along for protection and to prevent social awkwardness. I need to travel with my support team.

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 12:54 pm

@ Pop and Ice – Thank you for the comment! And I would recommend that your husband and daughter attend purely as witnesses. They’ll come in handy at the deposition.

Marianna @ Green Mama's Pad July 29, 2009 at 12:54 pm

That was absolutely fantastic and hysterical. Love it! Thanks for that Greg.

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 12:57 pm

@Erin – No way BlogHer ’10 gets this crazy. I think lessons were learned and there will be more restraint. I’m not an “agenda” guy but I hope some see the craziness of it all.

By now, most of the swag they clamored over is probably lost, broken by toddlers, or stored forever in “why the hell did I take this” purgatory.

Mary@The Writer's Block July 29, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Sooooooo hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. Having fun visiting your blog!

Jingle July 29, 2009 at 1:04 pm

That is hilarious! Great job!

josslynne July 29, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Watching that made my day. Thank you!

Sugar Jones July 29, 2009 at 1:18 pm

That was awesome! I was there… and you weren’t… and yet you caught it all pretty well. Glad you mentioned that we did have some civility. Those of us that were astonished by the nastiness were debating whether to return. If you’ll be there giving free hugs, I’ll definitely be there.

torrie July 29, 2009 at 1:19 pm

As a blogger and a fan of Billy Joel- That was FANTASTIC.

Every year I am upset that I am not going to Blogher, then the drama starts, and I’m happy to be at home.

Next year I’m going to be there- interested to see what transpires.

Brandy July 29, 2009 at 1:34 pm

I love it!!! I was not at BlogHer but the video completely depicts most of what I have heard/read around Twitter and blogs. Great singing too! ;-)

Nichol July 29, 2009 at 1:50 pm

That was awesome. Great job putting that together! The singing wasn’t too bad either :)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 1:53 pm

@Nichol – You had me at “wasn’t too bad”.

Clarissa Nassar July 29, 2009 at 1:53 pm

OMG you are my fav dad blogger ever! :)

Umm, you forgot to mention the COOKIES–lmao!

Whit July 29, 2009 at 2:06 pm

It’s funny because it’s true. And for the record, your image of the fighting was spot on.

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 2:07 pm

@Whit – One can dream. :)

@Clarissa – The cookies deserve their own song. Those were cool!

Major Bedhead July 29, 2009 at 2:20 pm

Even though I missed all of the drama, I still found that hysterically funny.

Are you going to wear a Free Hugs sign to next year’s BlogHer? You’ll be much easier to spot that way.

ladystyx July 29, 2009 at 2:22 pm

I’m popping in from over at Shan’s “Last Shreds of Sanity” blog to say hi and let you know this video of yours is priceless! Loveitloveitloveit!

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 2:26 pm

@Major Bedhead – If I do attend, which I hope to, then I will indeed be wearing a “FREE HUGS” T-shirt…same font and everything. I’m not too sure I’ll be hard to spot anyhow as I’m 6’7″ tall.

Secret Agent Mama July 29, 2009 at 2:33 pm

That ROCKED!

Casey July 29, 2009 at 2:35 pm

I absolutely LOVED that video. I think it fits very well with some of the stories I have read about. Who knew women could be so…. ah nevermind. :)

Lisa July 29, 2009 at 2:39 pm

awesome, I heard rumors of the President’s visit, wazzup with that?

marymac July 29, 2009 at 2:43 pm

Well played. Loved, retweeted. Glad I was home in pjs with popcorn watching the show. Even wrote a post about starting BlogWhore:
http://www.pajamasandcoffee.com/?p=486
cuzzzz we may as well call it what it is, no?!
Thanks for the giggle! ;)

Sara July 29, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I love it – I felt like I was there. I feel more prepared for next year. I will have my mace ready – lol

Elaine July 29, 2009 at 2:46 pm

My favorite part? Your image of the “malfeasance.” Brilliant (OH, and the same exact thing my husband would post…) HA!

This is awesome. I was there and stayed away from the drama and TOTALLY enjoyed myself.

P.S. Are you sure that wasn’t Billy Joel singing? ; )

Maria @ Mom et al July 29, 2009 at 2:50 pm

This was AWESOME. I wasn’t there, but have read enough about it to know that you captured the thoughts of many perfectly. See you at BlogHer ’10!!!

Carrie July 29, 2009 at 2:52 pm

I loved this – and no, I wasn’t there and I haven’t even read the drama…trying not too – but if I ever do get to a BlogHer (or if BlogHer ever comes to Seattle) I’ll be sure to check out your “free hugs.” Thank you for your observations and clever delivery! :)

Karen July 29, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Good Stuff…
Do you do weddings? ; )

mamabearmills July 29, 2009 at 3:00 pm

that’s rad! come stop by and meet me! ill be at 2010 and cant wait! woot woot. ill be rockin’ in NYC baby

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 3:15 pm

@Karen – As a matter of fact I do have some wedding experience. I sang “New York, New York” with a spoon until the DJ handed me the microphone. Beyond that I’ve only given speeches.

@Carrie – Hope to see you in NY! Hugs will be doled out liberally.

@Maria – You bet! Just going to try and score some tickets. :)

@Elaine – You are too kind but if that was Billy Joel singing I’d have to think there was something very wrong with him. :)

Andrea's Sweet Life July 29, 2009 at 3:22 pm

This is AWESOME. And don’t think for a minute I won’t shove a bitch out of the way to score my FREE HUG at BlogHer ’10.

jennster July 29, 2009 at 3:23 pm

LMFAO- this is fu**ing brilliant. i think i’m in love with you.

Jona July 29, 2009 at 3:30 pm

Okay, now I’m glad I stayed home. You are obviously a sensitive man to have captured the essence of the event. ;)

Chicky Chicky Baby July 29, 2009 at 3:36 pm

I am going to personally thank you for the laugh next year at BlogHer. I’ll be the one with the brick.

Bossy July 29, 2009 at 3:49 pm

That was hysterical. Bossy didn’t experience any of the nasty stuff at BlogHer, but then she got to your lyric about “cleavage” and she understood why she had been spared.

Thanks for this.

Nap Warden July 29, 2009 at 3:52 pm

BRILLIANT!

Kellyology July 29, 2009 at 4:04 pm

I totally see this as the perfect kickoff to the Keynote speakers next year. Do you think you can get Billy Joel’s band to back you up? I volunteer to be a back-up dancer. You know. Because I’m a giver.

Genevieve July 29, 2009 at 4:06 pm

That was awesome! A must tweet/facebook!

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 4:06 pm

@Andrea – Oh man, I burst out laughing at your comment. That is classic!

@Bossy, @jennster, @Jona, @Nap – Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

@Chicky – I’ll watch for you…with caution! :)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 4:07 pm

@Kelly – You can be the ONLY dancer. Back-up implies that I’d be dancing. My Flirty Girl Challenge will clearly indicate that I have zero talent in that arena.

Kara July 29, 2009 at 4:11 pm

Funny stuff!

Melissa- Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans July 29, 2009 at 4:16 pm

I think I just peed my pants. AWESOME!

Meg July 29, 2009 at 4:21 pm

That. Was. Awesome.

I’m with the others who suggested you sing this at the community keynote next year!

Katherine Stone July 29, 2009 at 4:24 pm

I didn’t get to go to BlogHer this year (total bummer) but your video made me laugh out loud and feel like I got to go anyway. Thanks for that. I hope to be in NY next year!

LemonySarah July 29, 2009 at 4:35 pm

Oy. I was there and you got it so right. Brilliante!

Buck "Daddy' Rogers July 29, 2009 at 5:00 pm

AWESOME! I did not get to go but felt like I was there, hope to NYC and hope we can meet, bring your bat son!

Condo Blues July 29, 2009 at 5:26 pm

Fight greedy nastiness with snarky comedy – I love it! Especially when it has a beat and you can dance to it.

I will politely wait in line for my free hug at BlogHer ’10. You won’t be able to miss me I’ll be dressed head to toe by my sponsor – Kevlar.

Amy @ Atlanta with Kid July 29, 2009 at 5:54 pm

ROFL.. OMG. You are genius! It’s good recap of what my impression was from reading blogs and tweets this past week.

Rebecca (Ramblings by Reba) July 29, 2009 at 6:17 pm

That was FUNNY! My husband “sang along,” but with the real words. :) Ha! :)

BTW, this is my first time to your blog. I’ll be checking more of it out as soon as I post this comment.

Mrs. Wilson July 29, 2009 at 9:57 pm

Great job :)

Telling Dad July 29, 2009 at 9:58 pm

I will be there and I’m currently crafting my musical pitch for sponsors. Should have it ready in 2-3 weeks.

Stephanie July 29, 2009 at 11:52 pm

Was it really that bad? Yikes!

I didn’t attend this year either, but I just wanted to chime in to say that your song was creative and hilarious and brilliant. AND I think your voice is actually really good.

I look forward to more of the same in the future…

Candy @ Serendipity Mom July 29, 2009 at 11:57 pm

OMG that was great. I had no intention of going to Blogher 10 but if you are going then I must be there just to meet you. I may have to bring my husband Greg as well. Wait a minute he will need a sponsor too and he might steal my swag…lol

uppervalleymom @ Kids Meal Crowd July 30, 2009 at 1:35 am

This totally rocks! I have been too lazy…er, BUSY…to write up my post-BlogHer 09 thoughts yet. Will be sharing this video as a precursor. Thanks so much for the button code, will also be adding that to my sidebar. Hope to see you in NYC for BlogHer 10.

MummyTips July 30, 2009 at 3:43 am

What a great post. I have linked it in a BlogHer round up that i am doing on my site. Hope you don’t mind.

Tammy July 30, 2009 at 6:52 am

Great job Greg! I look forward to more. I would like to go to BlogHer’10, despite some of the things I heard about ’09. I think it would be a great experience.

Kathleen July 30, 2009 at 7:15 am

That was awesome! I’m gonna beat you up cuz it was so good. :) And with my Nikon-gifted purse at that.

Thanks for the laugh…

Lori July 30, 2009 at 7:42 am

Greg, You were always funny and creative. I am glad you are finally sharing it more. You can be a pain as a brother but I love you so.

Shauna July 30, 2009 at 8:09 am

The whole time I was listening to the video I was like “wait, is that Billy Joel singing?” Funny as sh*t. And right on for someone who wasn’t there. You take good notes.

I missed the drama too. Thank God.

See you next year in NYC!

BRANDY July 30, 2009 at 8:47 am

HA HA HA HA HA HA STUD HA HA HA HAHA would LOVE to hear Heathers remarks on that LOL. Seriously though it was GREAT! Kirsta said WOW he can sing I didn’t know that!! DUH you have only seen him a few times lol

Tonya July 30, 2009 at 10:11 am

I wasn’t there but heard about it from my sister who was. What a great tribute! Hilarious!

Nicole July 30, 2009 at 6:04 pm

Totally late here, but that was hilarious. And you’ve got a great voice. That was the best recap ever. I wasn’t actually there either so I’m just going with your version.

Condo Blues July 31, 2009 at 12:45 am

I couldn’t resist and linked to your video in my BlogHer ’09 recap post http://condo-blues.blogspot.com/2009/07/why-i-went-to-blogher-09.html and a photo of my dog saying “blog for peace not swag.” in front of my swag of course.

Definitely an epic win. :)

I know I’m a wee bit late getting to view this post, but it totally gave me the giggle I needed this morning. I honestly had stayed out of the loop of the whole BlogHer thing (simply because I was horribly jealous of all who attended!) and I really hadn’t heard much about the crazy-pants swag drama. Makes me thankful that I wasn’t a part of that mess, at least!

I know how people (*a-hem* especially women!) can get when free things are involved, and every now and then I feel the OMG-GIMME-GIMME madness creeping in, and really have to fight it. I think that it’s especially awful when it ends up adding a bunch of crap to something that is supposed to be fun and happy.

In any case, the video you made was seriously hilarious and perfect and heartfelt and witty all at once! I’m so glad I ended up discovering it! Well done you.
