If you who are completely clueless about what the heck I’m doing, you can visit my Flirty Girl Fitness Challenge page to get up to speed.
Part One: Introduction & Weigh-In
I’ve created TWO Versions to choose from. One is 8:26 and the other is 4:24 (no Flirty Girl Kit intro).
To recap, for those who are like me and always seek shortcuts, I originally hoped to raise $250 for my Sweet Dreams Fund which benefits those escaping domestic violence.
My wife convinced me to change it to $500 and I reluctantly gave in. I figured it would take a few weeks but when our close friends, Dan & Jane Polhamus, saw that we were $120 away from meeting our goal? They donated the remainder. Click here to read why this blew us away.
Contributions kept coming and I decided to honor a joke I had made where I promised to do a feather boa workout if we raised $1,000 before I started the program.
Not ONE HOUR before this deadline, Gena from The Morris Bunch Blog donated the remaining $100 we needed to hit that goal. This woman was determined to see me use that boa! I can say with full confidence that she’ll regret it.
We are absolutely floored by the outpouring of support and all the wonderfully kind words over the past few weeks. I thought we’d struggle to raise $250 by the time I was ready to start and the people listed at the bottom of this page helped us quadruple that goal. I feel blessed and with the funds raised thus far, more than 140 Sweet Dream packs can now be purchased. That is unbelievable.

Absolutely every donation I received for the Sweet Dreams Fund was a touching and generous gesture. The reason I wanted to write a special note to Dan and Jane is because even though their daughter has been courageously fighting a rare form of cancer for 2 1/2 years, and even with the financial demands this kind of fight brings, they didn’t hesitate to contribute the remainder of my $500 goal when they learned we were only $120 away. I was floored and called immediately to make certain that this was something they could do and wanted to do.
This family has endured countless trips to the children’s hospital for treatment, unimaginable sadness as they watch their daughter fight, and repeated let-downs as the cancer fought to survive. Even with this, they felt so blessed by the outpouring of support that they had received, that they felt compelled to return it in some fashion.
I have known Dan for nearly 25 years and this family is bound like few others I’ve seen. Their 3-year old daughter Rachel is an absolutely adorable and vibrant little girl, and I fully attribute this to the family network she has surrounding her.
Just today, July 30, 2009, we learned that Rachel is cancer free. After 2 1/2 years this little girl is cancer free!!!! We have been following her story on her family’s personal web journal at Caring Bridge and I promised Dan & Jane that I would share the link to this wonderful website. Here, families who are going through difficult times can have one outlet to share photos, news, and more so that friends and family can stay updated.
With that, I’m happy to kick off the Flirty Girl Fitness Challenge and you’ll see daily updates until I manage to lose 5 pounds on the program. I can’t promise you’ll want to watch all of the webisodes but they’ll be there if you’re brave enough.
Thank you again for all the support, the comments, and for spreading the word. I appreciate all of you…contributors, blabbermouths, and readers alike!
