Clean That House – Teenager Style

by Telling Dad on November 6, 2009

I’m mainly posting this so that my wife can see that I run a pretty tight ship around here while she’s gone. Our 14-year old was grounded from computer and television but I offered to let him earn some free time by cleaning the house. We’re talking vacuuming, dusting, countertops, windows, the whole deal.

He jumped at the chance, not knowing all it entailed, and what you see here is around 2 hours of cleaning condensed to about 9 minutes.

Exciting? No. In fact, I’m sure many will want 9 minutes of their life back after they see it, but those with typical lazy teenagers may appreciate the incredible feat I was able to accomplish here. I had fun irritating him throughout the process and my hope is that it will encourage others to do the same. This worked out so well that I’m just looking for reasons to ground him.

It was a sight to see…my teenager cleaning something.

I’m still a little misty.

wow, impressive!

I would say how awesome the video is, as I assume there is a video in that big white space below your text. I just can't see it. Happened to me a couple days ago somewhere else. Dratted filters. I shall try to fix that and return to see the true glory of these powers that you have that makes teenagers clean.

Fixed it. You are hilarious. "How much do you dust?…you dust all the dust." LMAO. I love how matter-of-fact you are. Maybe I could hire you out to motivate me into cleaning. :D

PS – And your house is gorgeous.

I love the tortue you put your son thru. It made me laugh when he 1st turned on the vaccum he jumped as if he didn't know it was going to start making noise. I also like he had to clean the stainless steel with used "undies". LOL. You are mean :)

I would do the same to my 13 year old but she is pretty good with cleaning already.

You DO realize Andrew being the oldest, he will have most of the responsibility picking your nursing home. LOL I wish my kids would at least attempt what he's doing though. It takes yelling, screaming and threatening in this house to get just the toys picked up.

Goes to show that a little housework never hurts any of them! My boys' rooms- UGGHHHH….They shovel them out occasionally- closing the door is much simpler! Nice to see that the vacuum cleaner and son were able to bond! Enjoying your blog. Thought I better check it out- jumped over from Twitter.

Hahah! "How do you think Heather feels? She does it right."

You are freaking hilarious. Your son is adorable… Not that a 14 year old wants to be called that.

Veggie wash! You guys have NO IDEA what you are doing! I LOVE IT!!!

If I could be a dad, I would want to be a dad like you. "What?! But that took four hours!"
