I know she looks ticked in this picture but I swear she’s a super happy cat…until it was bath time.
And for a few days afterwards.
I actually tried uploading this video early this morning but YouTube nixed it citing a possible copyright violation. The video had been on their website for about a minute before they dropped the legal hammer.
I fully understand the need to police the internet but it’s a cat. Better yet, it’s MY cat. What copyright did I violate? Even if cats have a new set of rights that I’m completely unaware of, how was a 5-minute video analyzed inside of 1 minute? If this is a global issue, America’s Funniest Home Videos is screwed.
To try and pacify the legal team over at YouTube I have asked my cat to sign a waiver, which I’ve posted below. I do hope this ends any concern over my use of her likeness in my video.

Ok, with all the legalese out of the way, back to the video! Yesterday I asked people to vote on what they’d like me to post. I gave the option of Twitter strategies, my take on social media, my opinion on airlines, or me giving our cat a flea bath.
The votes were unanimous. People wanted to see the cat. You know what, people? I know things! This noggin is full of handy little gems from my 15+ years in design and marketing, yet I realized today just how little this matters.
How am I ever supposed to attract publishers for the book I want to write if I’m typecast as a total doofus? I suppose I can write a book on my life as a doofus but what kind of mileage does that have?
But if you have the time to waste, I have the videos to waste it, so here you go…feed that brain!
Oh, and I apologize for the camera work but my 14-year old couldn’t hold it steady due to laughter.
Update for the concerned: This flea bath was recommended by our veterinarian! I just thought it’d provide some humor if I videotaped it, which it did! Sift through my blog and you may realize that I goof around a bit. Not at the expense of others, including our cats!
Don’t forget to comment! I’ll need ‘em if I’m gonna be motivated to post dumb stuff like this in the future.

That cat is totally saying OWE. She's going to claw you in your sleep you realize, right?

Thank you for the laugh tonight. My 3yo thought this was the funniest thing ever… and thanks a lot because now he wants to clean our cats! (not happening)
Hilarious! Poor Karma… Poor You! Have you Seen Bucky Cat? Cats are cute cuddly imposters! BTW: Our Kitty needs a bath. Please?!
I totally loved it! It's a lot like washing a baby who hates the bath– you have to put up with a lot of hollering, squirming and fussing, but it gets done! Nice job– I hope the bell thing stops!

Ok, I'm not going to be popular with this comment – but this video was totally unnecessary and cruel to the cat. Unless there is a very particular reason this cat needs a bath – like fleas or some other skin/coat issue – it's cruel to subject a well cat to a bath. Their own grooming is sufficient. My cats were upset to hear that yowling and I shut it down less than a minute into the video.

As mentioned on the video, she had a ton of fleas on her. The bath I gave her was a flea bath and it was recommended by our veterinarian. This wasn't done for showmanship or unnecessarily.
Yes, she hated it, but she also hates her collar. Doesn't mean I'm not going to do what's necessary to keep her safe and healthy. You'll note that I repeatedly tested the water temperature and her head was never wet.
I can understand your comment but I think the video shows that we obviously love our cats!
I do think if you had heard me say that it was a flea bath that you wouldn't have written this so I'm gonna chalk it up to the fact that you turned it off after a minute.
No hard feelings, I can take it! I just thought my blog would be forever free of criticism based on the nonsensical topics.
Ok, I’m not going to be popular with this comment – but it took Pop and Ice almost a minute to stop her cats' pain? Unless there was a very particular reason her cats needed to watch this videos – like a rite of passage or other issue – it's cruel to subject a cat to a video of another cat's suffering. Their own suffering is sufficient.

Good for you, sharing normal life and having a good laugh (following some twitter conversation). Cats are interesting creatures. They live their own life, and could make a ton of interesting videos.

Ok, we've hashed it all out. But you can't really expect me to go through your whole blog archive just to find that you really love and take care of your pets in a humane manner. Many people only get to read that one blog post and it behooves us to reveal relevant points early on in the story so that people don't inadvertently freak out. I mean that for myself as well.
OM: The yowling drew my cats into the kitchen area where my laptop is. No forced kitty viewing of trauma induced kitty baths!

Yeah, we're good, lol. I do say in the video that it's a flea bath but you nixed it too early. Just goes to show what can happen if you stop watching, listening to, or reading what I have to say.
Our cats are now flea-free and on treatment. As mentioned, it was recommended. Not the videotaping. That was my own genius.
I do thank you for bringing drama to my site though. It was fun.
Ah, I bet you can create a whole post based on our Twitter banter this week!

LOL My cat hates water too. Luckily we've never had a flea problem!!

@Pop and Ice – I probably could but I don't want people to get the wrong idea! Besides, I'm already crafting an award-winning post for tomorrow on the dangers of Texas lawns.
Hysterical! Have had to do it too. Just part of life. What I really enjoyed was how you talked to Karma in a high pitched "schmoopy" voice. If the husband would let me we would adopt/steal Karma….
I haven't watched the video yet. I will in a minute. But all this cat bath talk reminds me of when my cat was a kitten and I dropped her in the bath tub which was full of water. She has since forgiven me but she will not go near the tub.

@Beccie For shame. You can't steal karma. It must be earned.

Actually, Karma can be bought. She's cheap.
LMAO that was a great post. My daughter just asked if all cats paw prints are the same. Karma looks a lot like the cat we have. She is wanting to see if its her cat.

Great post Greg, I think that you are awesome and I always love coming to read your posts. I think this was a great one considering these are just things that we do in life. Yes cats hate water but it had to be done ! I have to say after a little while Karma seemed to settle down ! Hope you have a great friday !
That was an entertaining video. I like when you were washing the cat you still had time to give your 14 yr old a hard time. That was funny!
Greg, you are lucky your hands and arms aren't shredded! When we give our beautiful but demon possessed cat a bath, my husband gets inside the tub to do the actual bathing and I sit on the floor holding the shower curtain closed, covering the new holes Zoe makes and trying not to laugh my butt off as my husband gets scratched on every exposed limb!!
He yowls (the cat AND the husband) like he is being tortured! Then, at 2 am, he exacts his revenge…he pees on our bed while we're sleeping in it!
I cannot believe you did this in the sink! LOL I was laughing so hard, I had tears streaming! And honestly, I would rather pay the $70 to get my cat groomed than give him a bath myself.
You are one brave man!
PS: be on the look out for hidden (or not so hidden) "gifts" from your cat(s). They LOVE yo "get you back" where you least expect it.

LMAO I couldn't stop laughing past the release you had your cat sign to read the rest. I'll have to try to read it again. That's classic. You should make sure you're the cat's agent and that you get a cut should she become famous.

I remember when our cat back home needed a bath, they all yowl. I laughed because you'd think you were killing them. An occasional bath is good for them especially if they have long hair.

This brings back memories of the day we had a huge flea infestation on all the animals in the house, at the time it was 3 dogs, 1 adult cat (very old and scary looking black one) and two kittens. Gave them all a bath the same day. The old black cat gives me nightmares to this day. But considering they were being eaten alive by fleas it was much less cruel for us to bathe them and kill the fleas. As a side note we moved and have no pets now. The other pets were our roomates.

Haha! You know, it is sad that I just watched a 5 minute video on cat bathing when I have 3 of my own that get bathed. I couldnt help it, there is something amusing about someone else's cats!

I'm fortunate in that the cats I've had in the past didn't mind baths. Don't know about the one we have now, we've only had him a week and he's still hiding.
Love the cat copyright waiver!
