Sweet Dreams Fund $1.11 Campaign

If you don’t know the origins or inspiration behind my Sweet Dreams Fund, it was started after my wife’s side of the family faced an unimaginable tragedy rooted in domestic violence.

From the heart-wrenching despair of that day sprang forth a heart-warming campaign to provide some level of comfort to women and children seeking shelter from abuse. The support of hundreds made the mission a reality and I’m motivated to expand the reach even further.

Don’t miss out on the $20 Starbucks Gift Card! No donation necessary! Just tell me what you would do to raise or find $1.11. Be as boring as creative or as funny as you want. One winner will be chosen based on creativity and another will be chosen randomly!

The Recipients of Your Generosity
Recently I read a story about the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Site which will provide children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse with a one-stop care location. Currently, as it is in most cities, when a child falls victim to abuse, they are ferried from building to building, address to address, to visit with an array of professionals. From authorities to child protection advocates to medical examiners to counselors, the experience must be traumatic, exhausting, and frightening.

Through the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Site, each of these critical services will be provided under one roof. Prompt, efficient, and loving care is what these children need, and this is what they’ll receive, without having to shuffle from car to car, location to location.

As many of you know, I currently raise money to donate pillows, pillowcases, teddy bears, coloring books, and crayons to domestic violence and women shelters to help make their arrival a bit more comforting. At McMahon/Ryan, the children won’t need pillows, but they will need comfort.

Through your donations, children arriving at the center will receive a teddy bear to hug and a coloring book and box of crayons to help take their minds to a better place. The goal is to ease some of the angst, stress, and indelible fear they’ll have when they walk through the doors.

The $1.11 Campaign!
Sadly enough, the center expects to see more than 350 child victims of varying ages. I want to make sure EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM receives a care pack. To accomplish this, I need to raise an additional $1,200 after kicking off the campaign with a $300 head start.

To try and make it easy and uber-affordable for people to get involved, I came up with the idea for a Sweet Dreams $1.11 Campaign. I figured, if 1,111 people donated $1.11, then we’d hit our goal! And if people purchased 10, 20, or even 50 pledge units, then we’d get to our goal even faster.

My vision is to bank on the power of social media, the power of influence, and the power of reach through blogs, Twitter, and Facebook to try and raise these funds in record time.

So What Can You Do?
People often ask if they can do more than a donation and I’ve provided an easy 5-Step path to mega karma below. Awareness is every bit as important as donations so I appreciate every single thing you do to help me spread the word.

Every Tweet, every "Like", every recommendation, every link, every banner will ultimately help provide a child with a level of comfort he or she probably can’t get elsewhere.

1. Tweet this page and our cause!
2. "Like" us on Facebook to expand our reach!
3. Add one of our buttons to your site!
4. Donate $1.11 (or even more) to help us reach our goal!
5. Share Sweet Dreams with friends and others with influence!

Be Our Voice
Unsurprisingly, I’m not nearly as famous as I need to be to make my program as large as I want it to become. This is where you come in. If ten of you tell ten people who tell ten people, you’ll have collectively reached out to 1,000 individuals through the power of social media and influence. That is huge. And this is what I depend on.

Twitter is certainly powerful and whether you Tweet what you wish or click on the button below to send out our call, it’s so appreciated.

For Facebook, I recently (and I mean like yesterday recently) established a Fan Page for the Sweet Dreams Fund. I can’t get my custom URL until I reach 25 fans. I’m hoping we can sail by that number.

On your blog, if you want to write a post coinciding with Child Abuse Awareness Month, that is awesome. If you want to write a post about the Sweet Dreams Fund, that is awesome. If you want to place a 125×125 banner on your sidebar (available below) that is awesome. In short, anything you do to help extend the reach of this campaign is awesome.

If you’d like to add a button for the Sweet Dreams Fund, please choose one below. If you donated, please feel free to use the "Contributor" banner.

Thank you for your support, whether monetary or awareness in nature. You have no idea how many lives will be touched through a simple $1.11 donation. If you think it’s small, it truly isn’t. The power is in the numbers and this is why I’m turning to social media for this particular campaign. There has to be 1,111 people out there willing to embrace this mission.

Updates and Contributors Page
Once donations have been received I’ll be creating a Contributors Page for all Silver, Gold, and Platinum level contributors. As well, if you did the Silver, Gold, or Platinum sponsorship then I’ll be in touch within 24 hours to get your details and buttons for my blog.

Thank you again and I hope this achieves what I believe it can. With your support, I can’t see how we’d fail.

I will be making a donation! I think that each of my children can find $1.11 in his & her piggy banks. And I’m sure I have $1.11 in my car…or in the cushions of my couch! In either case, I’ll be happy to donate more than $1.11!
